Air flow teeth cleaning In Sunderland
What is Air Flow Teeth Cleaning?
The Air Flow is a dental cleaning technique that uses a special device (air polisher) that combines pressurized air, water and a very fine powder; this combination allows a deep and effective cleaning of the teeth.
In addition, this technology is innovative because it can control the temperature of the water and reduce vibrations, which makes the cleaning much more comfortable for the patient. Thanks to these and other advantages, the Air Flow is an excellent choice for those seeking a high quality dental cleaning that keeps teeth and gums healthy.

Is it right for me?
Air Flow teeth cleaning is ideal for all patients who want to keep their teeth and gums healthy. However, it is especially useful for people with periodontal disease.
-Patients with periodontal disease: Patients with gum inflammation and bleeding gums (with gingivitis or periodontitis). Also it can be used in periodontal pockets up to 4-5mm deep, and in patients with gingival recession (when the gums recede exposing the roots of the teeth).
-Patients with superficial enamel stains: Caused by the consumption of coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas or tobacco. It is important to mention that Air Flow can be used to clean teeth before whitening and removes stains that remain after orthodontic treatment (braces plus poor hygiene increase the retention of stains produced by the above mentioned beverages).
-Patients with fear of the dentist or with children: Getting a gentle and painless cleaning.
-Patients with increased tooth sensitivity: Because Air Flow reduces sensitivity by minimizing the vibrations produced on the tooth surface and because its powder particles fill the exposed dentinal tubules.
-It can be used without problems on teeth with fillings, veneers, implants or crowns.

Benefits of Air Flow Teeth Cleaning
Air Flow is a tooth cleaning technique that effectively removes tartar and plaque both above and below the gum line (supra and subgingival). This helps prevent gum disease or avoid its progression. In addition:
-Prevents decay formation by removing tartar deposits that serve as a reservoir for bacteria and food debris.
-Eliminates stains and discolorations: Removes surface stains caused by coffee, tea, wine or tobacco.
-It is painless: Cleaning is gentle and comfortable, many dentists and patients say it is more pleasant than traditional cleaning.
-It offers more effective and less bothersome results in contrast to cleaning with manual and ultrasonic instruments, especially in the subgingival area.
-Helps save time at the dentist since it reduces cleaning time. It also reduces patient fatigue by keeping the mouth open for less time.
-Polished: Leaves teeth smooth and shiny, avoiding roughness on the tooth surface.
-Freshness: Eliminates bad breath by removing dental tartar.
-Non-abrasive: Does not damage dental enamel (or soft tissues).

Process
Air Flow teeth cleaning is a very comfortable and fast procedure, it does not require anesthesia because it does not hurt. It usually takes between 30 and 40 minutes, although it can vary from person to person. If you have a lot of tartar, your dentist may use one of the traditional cleaning methods to remove it before using Air Flow.
The Air Flow works with a jet of pressurized water, air and small particles of powder (Erythritol) that are expelled from the device head to gently clean the teeth, removing tartar, plaque and stains without causing discomfort.
The intensity of the water jet and its temperature can be adjusted to make each patient feel as comfortable as possible. In addition, the water can reach hard-to-reach places, such as 4-5 mm below the gum, without harming it. This allows for thorough and effective cleaning without the need for instruments that can cause discomfort.
In addition to cleaning, the powder used in the Air Flow also polishes the teeth, leaving them smooth and free of roughness. This saves time, as no additional polishing is required as in other cleaning techniques.
To maintain good oral health, we recommend that you have your teeth cleaned with Air Flow every 6 months or at least once a year. Also, don’t forget to brush and floss your teeth daily to prevent plaque and tartar build-up.
