Air flow teeth cleaning In Middlesbrough
What is Air Flow Teeth Cleaning?
It is a type of dental cleaning that employs an air polisher that combines the use of compressed air, water and small particles of powder in order to provide the patient with a deep cleaning. The Air Flow has an innovative technology that allows regulating the irrigation temperature and also reduces the vibration produced when passing the instrument over each tooth, thus minimizing the discomfort experienced by the patient.
Because of these benefits and others that we will mention below, we can affirm that the Air Flow is an excellent alternative when you want to perform a dental cleaning that provides optimal results to maintain the health of teeth and gums.

Is it right for me?
Air Flow teeth cleaning can be performed on any patient who desires a routine cleaning to maintain the health of their oral cavity (as a preventive treatment), but it is especially useful in those patients who suffer from periodontal disease.
-Patients with periodontal disease: We can mention those with gingivitis or periodontitis (with gingival inflammation and bleeding), with gingival recession (the gums recede leaving the roots of the teeth exposed, i.e., those patients who require special care. It should be noted that it can also be used in patients with periodontal pockets up to 4-5mm.
-Patients with stained teeth: These stains can be caused by the consumption of beverages such as red wine, coffee, dark sodas, tea, and also those caused by smoking. Air Flow cleaning is an excellent procedure prior to teeth whitening and also after orthodontic treatment (the appliance can favor the retention of superficial stains caused by the above mentioned beverages).
-In children or patients with fear of the dentist: It allows gentle cleaning without causing discomfort or pain.
-Patients with hypersensitivity: As mentioned above, the Air Flow reduces the vibration produced when passing the instrument over the teeth (which can cause discomfort, especially in patients with increased sensitivity). In addition, the powder particles used fill the dentinal tubules that may be exposed, thus relieving sensitivity.
-It can be used without problems on patients with restorations, veneers, implants or dental crowns.

Benefits of Air Flow Teeth Cleaning
-Effectively removes tartar or dental calculus and bacterial plaque both above the gum (supragingival) and below the gum (subgingival). This prevents the development of periodontal disease or avoids its progression.
-By removing tartar deposits it also prevents the formation of caries.
-It eliminates stains and superficial discolorations of the enamel.
-It is a treatment that does not cause discomfort, it is painless, comfortable and we could say that it is more pleasant for the patient than traditional cleaning.
-By allowing a fairly deep cleaning (especially subgingival) it provides more effective results in relation to traditional cleaning methods (with manual and ultrasonic instruments).
-It reduces treatment time.
-In addition to cleaning, it also performs dental polishing, avoiding roughness in the enamel after the procedure.
-It provides a longer-lasting cleaning sensation (provided that the patient maintains a correct dental cleaning routine at home).
-It is not abrasive to the enamel.
-Eliminates bad breath due to the accumulation of dental tartar and food debris.

Process
First of all, Air Flow cleaning does not require anesthesia as it is a painless procedure, and the duration of the procedure, although it varies from patient to patient, can be about 30 to 40 minutes. If there are large deposits of tartar build-up, the dentist can use traditional cleaning methods to remove them and then start the Air Flow cleaning.
The nozzle of this pressurized air system shoots a jet of hot water (at high pressure) mixed with Erythritol particles to gently and discreetly remove tartar, dental plaque and stains from the surface of the teeth.
Both the power of use and the water temperature can be regulated by the dentist, which increases patient comfort during treatment. The water jet can penetrate up to 4-5 mm below the gum, allowing this sensitive area to be cleaned without the use of sharp instruments that can cause discomfort.
And because the small powder particles also polish the enamel, the surface is not roughened and does not need to be polished separately, as is the case after cleaning with traditional methods.
In order for the patient to maintain healthy teeth and gums, we recommend an Air Flow cleaning every 6 months or at least once a year. Of course, it is also imperative that you brush your teeth properly at home and floss your teeth to reduce plaque and tartar build-up between the teeth.
