Root Canal Treatment – Expert Care to Save Your Infected Tooth

Root canal treatment is a proven, effective solution for treating infected or damaged teeth, relieving pain while preserving your natural smile. At Westmount Dental, our specialist endodontists use advanced skills and state-of-the-art technology to manage even the most complex cases, ensuring precise treatment and successful outcomes.

Infection of the tooth’s pulp—the soft tissue inside—can arise from deep decay, trauma, or injury. If left untreated, this infection causes severe pain and may lead to tooth loss. Timely root canal therapy stops the infection, saves your tooth, and prevents further complications.

Why Choose Specialist Endodontic Care?

Our in-house endodontic experts bring advanced knowledge and precision to complex cases, such as curved root canals, retreatments, or previously failed root canal therapies. Their specialised training and cutting-edge equipment allow for accurate diagnosis and treatment, increasing the likelihood of saving your natural tooth and avoiding extraction or surgery.

What to Expect During Your Root Canal Treatment

    • Comprehensive Examination & Diagnosis

Your dentist or endodontist will thoroughly examine your tooth and take detailed X-rays to assess the extent of the infection or damage.

    • Comfortable Local Anesthesia

We prioritise your comfort by fully numbing the treatment area before the procedure begins.

    • Accessing the Infected Pulp

A small opening is carefully created in your tooth to access the infected pulp chamber and root canals.

    • Cleaning, Shaping & Disinfecting

The infected tissue is gently removed, and the canals are meticulously cleaned, shaped, and disinfected using specialised instruments and techniques.

    • Sealing the Canals

The cleaned canals are sealed with a durable, biocompatible material to prevent any future reinfection.

    • Restoration & Protection

To restore function and protect the treated tooth, we usually recommend a custom dental crown following your root canal therapy.

Our specialist-led root canal treatment offers precision and care, even for challenging cases, helping promote faster healing and long-term oral health.

Don’t let tooth infection affect your smile or comfort. Book a consultation with Westmount Dental’s expert endodontists today and save your natural tooth with confidence!

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my tooth is infected? +

Teeth can be tricky, as they don’t always indicate there is a problem until symptoms have begun to interrupt your daily life. This is why we are always reminding our patients never to miss their routine appointments with us. During these, we can identify any advancing problems before they become problematic.

When an infected tooth does cause symptoms, these can range from a bad taste in your mouth and tooth discolouration to increased sensitivity and intense pain.

What happens during my treatment? +

The aim of root canal treatment is to make sure your tooth is infection-free. Once we have given it a thorough clean to remove the infected tissue, your tooth is sealed and restored with a beautiful bespoke crown.

How will I feel after treatment? +

Root canal treatment has become highly efficient in recent years. After a couple of hours of rest, you should feel able to get on with your normal routine.

I’m a little nervous – can you help? +

In many cases, simply enlightening patients on what to expect from treatment can help to relax them. However, we completely understand that some patients need a helping hand to have the treatment they need. We can offer IV sedation to help you relax throughout.

You will find our team of dentists to be considerate, kind and professional individuals who care immensely about making you feel comfortable.

Can root canal treatment treat an abscess? +

Yes. The pus at the site of the infection will be drained away during treatment. By removing this pus, the abscess can begin to heal.

What happens if my tooth becomes re-infected? +

Root canal treatment is usually very successful. However, in the event of the infection returning, we may be able to perform re-root canal treatment.

Do you offer finance for dental treatment? +

Yes, we offer interest-free and interest-bearing finance so that high-quality dental care is accessible to all our patients.

I’m embarrassed about coming in – can you help? +

We understand that coming in to seek implant-based treatments is a huge life event. Our clinicians are compassionate people who encounter many patients who feel self-conscious about the condition of their mouths. We understand how debilitating lost teeth can be, particularly on your confidence levels and your everyday happiness. We are very happy to book you in for a practice tour or an appointment with our treatment coordinator in a non-clinical setting before your consultation.

Who performs my treatment? +

Multiple members of the Westmount Dental clinical team will be involved in the planning and treating your dental care. This includes dentists, dental nurses, dental technicians and sedation dentists, who work seamlessly together to deliver predictable results.

Can you offer sedation? +

We do. Sedation is invaluable for helping extremely anxious patients relax during their treatment.

Why should I choose Westmount Dental for root canal treatment? +

Our dentists are forward thinkers. Using the most innovative technology and coupling this with their skill and know-how, they can perform restorative procedures such as root canal treatment with great skill and efficacy
